Week 7, headband and a beach cafe

Week 7, headband and a beach cafe

Week 7 has been simply manic, pretty much no time to make anything so it was lucky I had a couple reserves!

First up, a new headband. I used a metal headband with spikes that hold your hair back tightly, really good if you have a fringe you’re growing out or really thick hair like I do and it stays put with one of these. I chose a red theme and utilised a 100% silk necktie in red with white polka dots to fit the vintage inspired look I was going for, I matched it up with some white lace and wrapped the band with red satin ribbon. I finished this headband off with a pearl and was happy with the result.

The headbands are part of my range of hair accessories that I have created from recycled neckties, I have tried to stick to vintage ties wherever I can and when they are available. There are mainly roses in my range along with some different flowers and then bow clips and of course the headbands. They are currently available for sale through my website store here  and Ill be having a stand at the Very Vintage Day Out in Auckland this coming April, check it out here if you’re into things vintage and retro, it’s well worth the visit!

So café-wise this week, I ended up out at Raglan where we were spoilt for choice on places to visit. We went to The Shack on the main street but generally I wasn’t too impressed, the coffee was very average and some of the staff not too interested in serving, their saving grace was the other staff who were really friendly and professional. It was a relaxed and laid back sort of place with interesting décor however the acoustics made it really noisy and difficult to hear when it was busy. So my score for this café was 5/10. The food I can say was fabulous!
